Privacy Policy

Information we collect

When you play as a guest. We assign your browser a random identifier stored in a cookie. This lets us remember your game state and statistics without requiring an account. This cookie does not contain your name, email, or any personal information, and it expires after one year. We may derive your approximate location (country, state, and city) from your IP address to understand where our players are located. We do not store your IP address itself.

When you create an account. If you sign up with email and password or with Google, we collect your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, your name as provided by Google. We use this to let you sign in across devices and to send you account-related emails.

When you play games. We store the cards dealt, bids made, and outcomes of games you play, including multiplayer games with other people. This is necessary for the game to function and to show you your history.

When you talk to Marty. Questions you ask Marty, our AI coach, and his responses are processed in real time to generate an answer. We do not use your Marty conversations to train AI models. Marty is powered by Anthropic's Claude models; your questions are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses, subject to Anthropic's own data handling practices.

When you subscribe to Premium. If you upgrade to a paid membership, our payment processor, Stripe, collects and stores your payment information. We never see or store your full card number. We retain your subscription status, billing email, and transaction history.

When you sign up for our newsletter. If you submit your email through our newsletter form, we add it to our mailing list, managed through Klaviyo, to send you product updates and tournament announcements.

When you create or join a tournament. We store the tournament name, team names, match results, and standings tied to your account.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Operate the game and keep your progress and statistics accurate
• Let you sign in across sessions and devices
• Process payments for Premium memberships
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, payment receipts, password resets)
• Send marketing emails if you've subscribed to our newsletter
• Monitor the health and reliability of the service
• Respond if you contact us through our contact form

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to serve you third-party advertising, because Euchre Mate has no ads.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers necessary to run Euchre Mate:

Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication.

Stripe processes payments and manages subscriptions.

Anthropic powers Marty, our AI coach, and processes the questions you ask him.

Klaviyo sends transactional and marketing emails on our behalf.

Vercel hosts our website and application infrastructure.

Each of these providers is contractually bound to use your data only to provide their service to us, not for their own purposes.

Cookies

We use one functional cookie (euchre_player_id) to identify your browser across visits. This is not an advertising or tracking cookie, and we do not use it to follow you across other websites. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

Your choices

• You can delete your account at any time by contacting us at play@euchremate.com.
• You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any newsletter email.
• You can cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your account page; this stops future charges immediately.
• You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us.

Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we're required to retain transaction records for tax or legal purposes.

Children's privacy

Euchre Mate is intended for general family use, including teaching the game to younger players under adult supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental involvement. If you believe a child has created an account without appropriate supervision, contact us and we'll address it.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), database access controls, and secure payment processing through Stripe. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do. Significant changes will be communicated by email to registered users.
